Korean Air is stepping up its game by introducing a premium economy cabin, dubbed Premium Class, on its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft starting next month. This new offering will initially be available on short to medium-haul flights departing from Seoul. The move is part of a broader transformation at Korean Air, which recently unveiled a fresh livery for its fleet. With the addition of Premium Class, the airline aims to provide passengers with a taste of luxury without the hefty price tag, offering more space and enhanced entertainment and dining options.
The airline is investing a significant KRW 300 billion (approximately $216 million) to retrofit 11 of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. This upgrade will align these planes with the latest in aircraft interiors and onboard technology. Korean Air currently operates 25 of these aircraft, and the retrofit will cover nearly half of them. The new Premium Class will feature a 2-4-2 seating arrangement, providing a more comfortable and spacious experience for travelers.
Inside the Premium Class cabin, passengers can expect a more luxurious experience compared to standard economy. With ticket prices set at about 110% of regular economy fares, this cabin offers a more exclusive feel with just 40 seats spread across five rows. Passengers will enjoy 39 to 41 inches of pitch and 19.5 inches of width, offering around 50% more space than economy class. The seats also come with a generous 130-degree recline, leg and footrests, and ergonomic winged headrests to enhance comfort during the flight.
