Alaska Airlines is set to expand its reach from California with the introduction of seven new routes, including three from Hollywood Burbank Airport, strengthening its connections to the Pacific Northwest. These new routes will roll out between October 2025 and January 2026, with five operating year-round and two available during the winter season. This expansion aims to fill the void left by Avelo Airlines as it exits the West Coast, a region where Alaska Airlines already has a strong presence. The new routes from Burbank will connect to Eugene, Pasco, and Redmond, while other routes will link Palm Springs to Santa Rosa, San Diego to Sun Valley, Boise to Ontario, and Spokane to Orange County.
Alaska Airlines is making a strategic move to enhance its network, particularly from Hollywood Burbank, where it is the second-largest carrier. The new Burbank routes will launch on October 26, 2025, and will operate daily with the Embraer 175 aircraft. This expansion will make Alaska the only airline connecting Pasco and the Tri-Cities region in Washington state with two Los Angeles area airports. The airline is also expanding its reach from Redmond Municipal Airport, with Burbank becoming its sixth destination. According to Kirsten Armie, Alaska Airlines Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning, the airline is committed to offering the most flights and seats between California, Washington, and Oregon, catering to both leisure and business travelers.
In addition to the year-round routes, Alaska Airlines is introducing seasonal winter flights. The Palm Springs to Santa Rosa route will kick off on October 6, operating five times a week, while the San Diego to Sun Valley route will start on December 18. These routes connect popular destinations and offer travelers more options for winter getaways. Alaska Airlines continues to be the largest carrier out of both Palm Springs and Santa Rosa, and its Wine Flies Free program remains a popular perk for wine enthusiasts traveling from 32 West Coast cities.
