In July 2025, both Boeing and Airbus successfully hit their monthly production targets, but Airbus continued to outpace Boeing in terms of aircraft deliveries. This trend has allowed Airbus to maintain its lead in year-to-date deliveries. While Boeing has made strides in recovering from its 2024 slump, it still has some distance to cover to reach its pre-2019 delivery numbers. Interestingly, July was a quiet month for new orders, with Airbus experiencing an equal number of cancellations and new orders. A notable shift in 2025 has been the preference for the larger A321neo over the A320neo, with the former seeing a significant increase in orders.
In terms of orders, July was a slow month for both manufacturers. Boeing secured 31 orders, primarily for its 737 MAX, while Airbus received a modest seven orders, including a few for the A320neo family and the A330neo. However, Air Lease Corporation canceled an order for seven A350 Freighters, citing delays and market uncertainties. Despite these challenges, Boeing has managed to accumulate more orders than Airbus in the first half of 2025, with a total of 699 gross orders compared to Airbus’s 501. The Middle East, particularly Qatar Airways, has been a significant contributor to Boeing’s 787 orders.
When it comes to deliveries, Airbus has maintained its position as the leading aircraft manufacturer, surpassing Boeing in the first half of 2025. Boeing delivered 280 commercial aircraft, including 209 737 MAXs and 38 787s, while Airbus delivered 346 aircraft, including 286 from the A320neo family. This consistent performance underscores Airbus’s strong market position, even as Boeing works to regain its footing.
