Tech Innovator Expands Horizons: Revolutionizing Aircraft Fueling for a Greener Future

A tech company from the U.K. is shaking up the way airlines manage their fuel logistics, a process that, surprisingly, still relies heavily on outdated methods for many airlines, airports, and fuel suppliers. Alex Mattos, the COO of i6 Group, explained that their mission was to introduce real-time, mobile technology to an industry that has been bogged down by paper and manual processes. “Some places have embraced digital solutions, but others are still stuck with paper and pencils,” Mattos noted.

i6 Group offers a suite of cloud-based software that revolutionizes the aircraft fueling process. Their technology not only ensures planes are fueled efficiently but also collects valuable data from airlines, airports, and fuel operators. This data helps streamline stock management, billing, and pinpointing inefficiencies. Considering that fuel costs make up about 30 to 35 percent of an airline’s expenses, optimizing this process is crucial. Mattos, who co-founded i6 in 2013 after a career in aerospace and defense electronics, was inspired to tackle these inefficiencies after witnessing the cumbersome paper-based systems firsthand.

Since its inception, i6 has launched innovative products like Fusion6, a refueling management system that provides a comprehensive view of fuel distribution and workforce management. Another tool, eHandshake, allows pilots to digitally communicate with refuelers, eliminating paper use and reducing the risk of overfueling. These advancements not only enhance operational efficiency but also contribute to sustainability efforts in the aviation industry. #AviationTech #FuelEfficiency #DigitalTransformation
